Job Description: Physical Security Solutions Engineer
Position Summary
The Physical Security Solutions Engineer will provide technical knowledge and expertise in the
design and installation of Corporate Security systems. This includes ensuring all relevant
standards and procedures are followed resulting in the safe and effective implementation of
security technologies to protect our people, facilities and critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with Critical Infrastructure Protection, Physical Security and other key
stakeholders to ensure regulatory technical requirements and company standards are
met.
Uses engineering concepts to create detailed packages including technical
requirements, specifications and standards to aid in the development of fully engineered
and constructible designs that meet Security standards.
Performs security and engineering analysis, research, calculations, and studies required
to develop security system concepts of design.
A thorough understanding of physical security systems integration, barriers, access
control, intrusion detection, CCTV, lighting, alarm monitoring systems, communications,
electrical power, surge protection and grounding.
Prepare bid drawings in sketch form with sufficient information to be developed by the
Security Integrators into final design and as-built packages.
Communicate complex technologies, ideas and strategies effectively with Senior
Leadership Team inside and outside of Functional Area.
Influences changes to standards when necessary.
Contributes to engineering narratives, concepts-of-design, and operational concepts,
designs and implements complex systems and solutions
Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, software engineering, system analysis and
design, database management systems (DBMS), cloud computing, application
development, security protocols and more.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of low voltage security systems engineering or designing experience plus a
High School Diploma/GED or 3 + years of low voltage security systems engineering or
designing experience plus an Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field
3+ years experience with Genetec or other enterprise Video Management systems
3+ years of experience with AMAG other enterprise Access Control systems
Exceptional organizational skills, thorough, detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking and
prioritization skills.
Self-motivated, proactive contributor with strong technical and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external technical
organizations while also being able to communicate advanced technical concepts in a
commonsense manner to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work within a team environment or work independently with minimum
supervision.
Demonstrate strong work ethic and exceptional levels of accountability with a history of
professional growth and increased responsibility.
Must be able to complete a NERC/CIP Personal Risk Acceptance (PRA)
Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of low voltage security systems engineering or designing experience plus a
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience creating network and system diagrams, conduit plans for low voltage
systems, and IP-based security devices supporting multi-site electronic security system
and network infrastructure.
Experience managing complex, enterprise wide, multi-site security system projects with
cross-functional teams.
Experience working with Bluebeam and Computer Aided Design software
Experience working in the utility industry
OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
ASIS PSP or CPP Certification
CompTIA Network+ or higher certification
Cisco CCNA or higher certification
